Carbon monoxide detectors?

My carbon monoxide detector chirps once every min or so, the light will flash red once in awhile which means battery power is getting to it. Will it still detect carbon monoxide until my husband gets home tonight to replace the pack that goes in it, or should i be concerned?
I know there isn't a carbon monoxide leak because this has been doing it for a week when I turn it on. The instructions say it is a normal noise for when the battery is dieing, I want to know if it will still work while it is cherping.

Mine continues to operate while it is chirping to tell you that the battery is low. It is when it stops chirping that the unit will not and cannot detect carbon monoxide. At least that is what the instruction manual that came with mine says.

I have two Universal Security Instruments 9 Volt Battery Operated Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarms and everyday at the same time they go off. They'll go off a few times and then stop. Does anyone know how to reset them and keep them off? I had talked to someone about this before and he just told me to keep on resetting them but I have kids that take naps and these things just blare, again it is everyday at the exact same time and I have no owners manual to go with them because they were here when I moved in.

I changed the batteries but I was told they were just for backup. I always check to see if something is burning, but my smoke detector doesn't go off, it is the carbon monoxide detector and once I reset it, it stays off (well after the 3rd or 4th reset) and it stays off until the exact same time the next day.

I had a Carbon Monoxide detector that did that. Not regularly though. The last straw was one summer, no furnace on, the windows wide open, no vehicles idling near the house. I disconnected it. In your case I suggest you buy new ones, including the smoke alarm. You don't know what kind of treatment they got before you moved in.

What does it mean when a first alert carbon monoxide detector starts blinking a green light?

From what I can tell, the alarm does this any time it starts back up due to a power surge, power outage, etc... Here is some info from First Alert's website;

If you can't find the manual, try looking up your model on the internet. The numbers *may* indicate parts per million of CO detected. It takes 1000ppm to cause unconsciousness in an hour, so 9ppm isn't good, but it is considered "normal" background CO.

Not sure if I understand your question. If you mean the display (if yours has one) that should read 0, unless you are testing it with the test button. My NightHawk model 900-0014-04 reads 163 when the test button is pressed then sounds the alarm. Check the manual for your unit or look on the back of it for test instructions.

Most are calibrated for 200 PPM in less than 35 minutes and have an alarm response time of less than 90 minutes for a 100 PPM concentration of CO.

Why are my smoke detectors making so much noise?

I was at home, and all of a sudden all the smoke detectors started beeping at the same time, and when they stopped, they all stopped at the same time.

I am guessing that your alarms are all hard wired into your electrical wiring?? that would be the only reason they would all go off if there was no smoke. Do they also detect carbon monoxide? Perhaps you should find your manual or call the manufacturer

I am no electrician, but it sounds like it could be an electrical problem!!!

I'm buying one and can't tell from the product description if you have to mount it somewhere specific; can I leave it on a desk or shelf?

Installation locations vary by manufacturer. Manufacturersâ recommendations differ to a certain degree based on research conducted with each oneâs specific detector. Therefore, make sure to read the provided installation manual for each detector before installing.

If they don't mention a specific location, then it likely isn't important

Can cleaners set of a gas detector?

I was cleaning in my bathroom that is attached to my bedroom and the gas/carbon monoxide detector went off saying that it was detecting gas. When I hit the reset button it didn't go off again and according to the instruction manual it would continue to go off if gas was present. I was using Mr. Clean orange scented at the time. Has anyone heard of this happening?

I had the same problem in a fifth wheel a few years ago using hair spray in the bathroom , the technician that came over to check the system told me that those detector are very sensitive and that any kind of strong fumes or chemical mist in the air will in fact set them off , my bathroom was adjacent to my bedroom and closing the door between the two rooms solved the problem for me.

i was cleaning with the alcohol, about 6 ft from the detector 20 min later it started to chirp. when i was done i cleaned up, reset the detector and it stopped chirping

I was going to say "no way" but started digging. found a carbon monoxide detector manual on line that sates it is very sensitive to CO and will detect Acetone, Alcohol, Butane and Gasoline. Very interesting. Here's the link:
