Carbon monoxide alarm??

It wasn't the "normal" alarm sound in the manual that is four short beeps and 5 seconds silence, then four short beeps..etc. It's a nighthawk and it did a sort of chirp, then was silent for about 20 seconds, the reading was 0. SHould we be concerned ?? Or sleep and check it out tommorow??
On the user manual it says if it beeps like that and says LB then its a low battery! Im just sort of tripping out but the rest of my fam has gone to bed saying I'am overreacting.
WUGGA- when yours chirped, did it have a reading of anything or was it 0 still??

If the reading is zero then it probably isn't a big deal... but I'd call the fire department (normal number not 911) and see what they think. We had a problem earlier this year because of snow blocking our vents where some carbon monoxide built up in our house. The alarm only chirped once or twice also because only a bit was getting in at a time so it wouldn't really detect it for the most part.

However, it was enough that it built up in our house. We were all fine, but it could have been an issue if we hadn't been checked out.

Carbon Monoxide gas is colorless, tasteless and odorless.
First thing: Get Out the house!
2. Leave the door open to ventilate the house.
3. Wait an 1 hour then open windows for cross ventilation and step out.
All this assuming nothing is on fire. Carbon Monoxide is a product of something Burning, even your car's exhaust will trigger the alarm if there is enough concentration of these gas.
Off course if there is smoke, there is fire and something is burning. Call 911.

Two days ago we were awaking to our carbon monoxide alarm going off... left the apartment and call 911 like directed. The fire dept walking to the apart complex was getting a rating as they were walking in the open hallway. The fire department there 3 levels of carbon monoxide(dangerous, moderate, low)... my apartment was close to dangerous but was high moderate. My apartment is on the 3 floor and the second floor had a mid dangerous level and the first had high dangerous level of co2.
After the fire dept narrow'd the issue down to our laundry room our apt complex gas was turned off for now 2 days i like to add... and my apartment's AC is not working and KC is having temps all the way up in the high 90 degree temps... but thats another story...
I called a little ago to my apartment manager to find out about our hot water and gas and AC issue and stated that we had a gas leak and that carbon monoxide was false
My question is that can my carbon monoxide go off for a gas leak?

carbon monoxide / fire alarm detector going off?

Q. i don't know which one it is... one of them keeps going off and whenever someone goes near it it stops. i can't tell which one it is because they are right by one another and there's no sign to see which one it is. i'm scared. help?

p.s. there's no smoke or anything.

to tell which is going off---take down fire alarm-take out batteries....if alarm stops-it is the fire and probably needs new batteries---but do a real good sniff test around to make sure there is no smoke up where the alarm was...


if the alarm continues-it is the carbon monoxide one--i'd check to see if the thing takes batteries-or is it plugged into the wall--if it is in the wall--get out and call 911, or the fire co direct---if it doesn't--try putting in the battery from the fire alarm....if it still sounds---get out and call fire co.

Alert from Carbon Monoxide alarm?

I've had my alarm for 2 years. But it has just given me an alert saying the levels are at 35ppm. I believe this is the lowest level threshold for an alert so I'm wondering whether I should get this checked out? I have already aired out the house by opening the windows. It gave a similar low level alert 6 months ago where I similarly aired out the house. The recent alert is only the 2nd time it's happened. Should I call in a specialist to get it checked out or is it such a low level that simply airing out the house be sufficient?

Definitely change the battery. If it keeps going off call 911 and have them send the fire department. They will come out with a gas meter and be able to determine if it is a false alarm or not.

Kidde Carbon Monoxide Plug-In beeped every 10 seconds until we re-plugged in it. Should we be worried?

My sister's boyfriend didn't bother to look at the alarm before he unplugged it, but when he plugged it back in it stopped beeping and the light is green next to "operator". It hasn't gone off again since.

I feel a little lightheaded right now, and I'm not sure if it's because I'm worried or if something is actually wrong.

I feel like if it was something it would've gone off again already?

I'm freaking out and I don't want my sister blowing money unless it could actually be something.

You have a 9 volt battery backup in the detector. The manual says that if the battery is low it will beep every 15 seconds. If you had a problem with carbon monoxide you would hear a pattern of 4 quick loud beeps followed by 5 seconds of silent. The cycle will continue as long as a dangerous CO condition exist . So, unplug it from the receptacle and change the 9 volt battery. Be sure to use a new battery, not one on sale. BTW: Mild exposure symptom would be headache,nausea and vomiting.Medium exposure bad headache, confusion and drowsiness.Extreme exposure unconsciousness.If you still are worried, then get out of the house and call 911.

Either there is a high level of CO at the detector or it is malfunctioning. If you can, take it outside and see what it reads. If it is close to zero there really is a high level in the house. If there is no obvious source, like a fireplace, I would ask the fire department to help me investigate. I would call their business number, not 911.
